Capture the Quiet

Article by
Catherine O'Keeffe.

Anxiety as we know can be at its peak in menopause - this is a little exercise I use frequently and find it works a treat. The 5 Senses Exercise trains your mind to be in the present moment and is a well proven to help relieve anxiety.

Start with as little time as a few minutes and notice how
it will ground you.

The traffic will not go away, you
cannot change it, so be in the moment and use it to help
you relax. Ideally, if you can incorporate 15 minutes of
mindfulness meditation into your daily life you will see a
great benefit.

This is a chance to check in with your five senses and notice:
1. What can you smell?
2. What can you hear?
3. What do you taste?
4. What can you feel?
5. What do you see?

You can do this exercise anytime, any place, it will free your mind from anxious thoughts and give your mind a break from the busyness of life.

If you need help with perimenopause or menopause symptoms, Catherine provides a full coaching service (Wellnesswarrior.ie) to help women who are finding hormonal change challenging. It includes a lifestyle audit,  a practical plan for movement/exercise, sleep, meditation and relaxation that works with your life. It includes nutrition for weight management and energy and recommendations for supplements.
