Project Repeal

I was delighted to join a group of women one very cold August morning on Greystones beach as an extra in the filming of Dave Tynan's short film Repeal. Thanks to all those involved in increasing the dialogue around the hypocrisy of Irish abortions.

Dear Aisling I’m so proud to see you involved in this - it’s a very touching filming of a highly emotive subject. I find it so archaic that even in this modern age so many girls/women have to take a journey over water when already in a frightening situation whether it be because of health reasons/ life situations - the choice should be ours not laid down for us by the Church or archaic laws. We need this country to open its minds and step away from non understanding traditional conservative thinking.

Well done for taking part and standing up for so many women in this country impacted by this.

Thanks Catherine, I think it’s vital that women and men of all ages join the campaign. I was particularly touched to go along to an event last year and see so many brilliant, vital women and men in their 20s and 30s attending. I really want to stand in solidarity with women who are directly affected by the hypocritical situation where we DO have Irish abortion but women have to travel and endure a lot more hardship than necessary. As you say it should quite simply be our choice for our bodies and suiting our personal circumstances. Handled in the right way this is a simple medical procedure and it shouldn’t feature in the constitution at all.
